Ny Alesund, Spitsbergen, August 6, 2010
Ny Alesund originally was a coal mining town at the top of Spitsbergen Island in the Svalbad Archipeligo. It now is an international research station. Artic research and expeditions occur here. What is really neat is that this is the most northen permanently-inhabitad setlement in the world!
