He was a judge, merchant, gold miner and speculator in Dahlonega, GA. He outfitted and led a small party of prospectors west across the nation to the gold strike in California. He died of pneumonia after arriving in the gold fields and was buried there. He had purchased speculative land in Carroll Co. near the Bonner Gold Mine area, we are told, sight unseen. He never moved to this land which we have heard was 600 acres but others say only 220 acres.

Godefroy Le Danois, born c 852, of Denmark, and Gisela, Princess of Lorraine, born c 865, of Lorraine, France. She was the daughter of Lothaire II, King of Lorraine and Valdrade, V, Lorraine. Gisela was a decendent of Charlemagne, King of the Holy Roman Empire.
